We all benefit from a little guidance every now and then. States are no different. In fact, standards and guidelines are often mandatory to ensure that all schools are equitable across the state.
Standards and guidelines provide consistent and clear information for local school districts and design professionals. In addition, they may establish a uniform level of quality and cost for public school facilities.
Standards and guidelines are often intended as a starting point. The goal is to allow the planning, design, and construction processes to proceed efficiently while focusing efforts on the creation of the best possible educational environment for each individual project.
